This tropical fruit has a bright yellow flesh. When ripened, the flesh is smooth and custard like, similar to a hard-boiled egg yolk. The flavor is a mellow sweetness similar to roasted sweet potato.
How to eat an egg fruit
We ship egg fruit unripen or it should be close to ripening up by the time you receive it. It may be ripe enough to eat right away. Please refrigerate the ripened fruitif not consuming it immediately. If the fruit has not fully ripened (hard to the touch), you can leave it out at room temperature or leave it somewhere with a warmer temperature to help it ripen up. Don’t forget to check on your fruit daily while it ripens. When an egg fruit can easily be broken in half with your hands, then it should be ripe enough to eat. Do not eat the brown seeds, just the yellow creamy flesh.
